Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Children is a gift directly from God, they are blessing from God in every family. Genesis 1:28 says And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Children are a beautiful gift to the nature. They deserve nothing but the very best of everything. They make every corner in the world a very attractive place to stay. God gave us children to make the world more entertaining and lovable so that we can see how much he cares for us.
When someone gives us something nice and expensive, most especially if that person is so special to us, we value and package that thing very well. We cherish that thing so much that we can’t rough handle it or give it to someone to keep for us because we might be afraid it might got damaged, stolen or the person might not even care for it so much as we do.
If we can cherish a gift someone gave us up to that extent, why not do more than that in a million ways for the gift and treasure that’s directly God. Some people value their material possession more than their children. They can do anything to protect their cars, jewelries, jobs, houses etc. and forget their children wellbeing, education, even bible. All these things are not supposed to be. Children are the heritage of the Lord that simply means they are a gift from God. Imagine getting a gift from the maker of the whole universe, we are supposed to adore and cherish them; remember he gave us to fulfill one of his promises for us in the beginning of the creation of the world.
Children worth more than gold or silver, the most expensive diamond in the world today cannot be compared with children because they are a gift directly God, they are treasure. So they must be well cared for and protected.
As parents, we must package them very well, to make them highly presentable in any place they find themselves. Their dressing should be moderate and in a Godly manner. Their speech and behavior should show that they came from a responsible and a Christian home, so that when you see them outside, you will be proud of them and boldly say that’s my son or daughter.
As a believer, there must be something that should single our children out from the crowd, there must be something that should distinguish them from others, as a believer, there must be a light that should shine in the life of our children, and that light should be the light of Christ. That’s why we need to invest heavily on them. Most especially, in the things that are of God, on the things that are eternal. If we can insure our properties in the hand of a company that can fold up anytime, why not insure our children in the hand of the one who is almighty and sovereign and have a peace of mind for life.
Don’t forget that the way we train our children, is the way they will grow up with. So we should train them in the right way we know they should go not the way the world is going, we should train them with word of God, so that when they grow up they will not depart from the right way they have been taught.
Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he’s old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Most importantly, we should pray for them always. Not only should we always pray for them but also teach them how to pray and read the word of God. It will really help them in all they do in life.
Remember, we are not the owner of them, we are just a care taker of them, we are just a stewardship of them, God is the owner of them, and we will account to him everything we do concerning them. Our reward is waiting for us; I pray you will not miss your pleasant reward towards them in Jesus name, Amen. God bless you!
