Understanding The Grace of God

[1]For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

[12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

[13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

[14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

[15] These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Titus 2:11-15 KJV

Grace can be defined as help from God. It can also be described as God given ability, strength and enablement. From our text, it is a gift from God and also a teacher.

The grace of God is important to every man. Firstly, it brings salvation. Ephesians 2:8 says ” For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”

Grace as a teacher teaches you to say no to all forms of ungodliness and to live soberly and live a godly life.

Titus 2:12 KJV
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Also according to Acts 20:32, grace is a builder, it builds you up to the full maturity in the Lord. Grace is also important to you as you justified by it.

Romans 3:24 KJV
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

By grace, you have the right response to issues, it gives utterance. Colossians 4:6. Again, grace is rich in kindness. Ephesians 1:7 KJV says
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

Having obtained grace, there as some things you can do with grace. You can grow in grace according to 2 Peter 3:18 which says “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

However, you should be careful so that you do not fall from grace. If you take your liberty in Christ for granted, it is easy to fall from grace. Galatians 5:1-4 NLT says
[1]So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
[2]Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you.
[3]I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses.
[4]For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

You should also strive not to frustrate the grace of God upon your life. Galatians 2: 21 NLT says “I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die”.
Having understood the importance of grace to you as a child of God, you need to know how to get His grace. This can come from God alone. 2 Corinthians 9:8b says “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you: …”

For you to also get grace, you have to be humble as God gives grace to the humble. James 4:6 KJV
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

I pray you will abound in grace, you will grow in grace and you will not frustrate the grace of God upon your life in Jesus name.
